New Delhi: Ride-hailing for teenagers giant Uber on Wednesday announced it is introducing Teen transportation services dubbed 'Uber for Teens' in India, which, the firm asserted, will provide secure and reliable travel opportunities for teens aged between 13 and 17 years in India.

Rolling out this Safe transportation for teens service within the nation involves 37 cities such as those famous in the Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata groups.

This service borrows heavily into a comprehensive set of stringent security protocols, including GPS tracking in ride services, Real-time ride tracking, and an In-app emergency button.

“Uber parental controls must ensure that both the teens and parents feel comfortable while using the service,” the company affirmed.

Uber safety features of Uber For Teens include empowering the parents to monitor the travels that have been arranged by their children.

Parents can sign up for a Teens account, which allows them to request rides for their teens, monitor the rides in real-time, and even get precise ride summaries after the trip.

Uber services in Hyderabad adds another level of safety, making it convenient for parents as well to keep watchful tabs on their teens’ movements.

"We see the unique mobility needs of teenagers and parents in India. Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia, said 'Uber for Teens is all about satisfying those needs by creating a service that parents will feel comfortable with and teens find really simple and cool to use.'

However, the survey from Uber only found that 92% of parents have had issues getting dependable transportation options for their children to go to the events.

Safety was the greatest worry for 72 per cent of parents when deciding on transport for their children. The survey also revealed that a majority of parents frequently had to drive their own vehicles to take their teenagers to extracurricular activities or coaching classes.

Around 63% of parents stated that they used their vehicles while taking their kids to sports or extracurricular activities, whereas 61% provided similar responses relating to taking the kids after school for coaching sessions.
